In my opinion this exact generation of the Octavia looks rather sharp, especially the vRS. However the ones with the 1.6 TDI's are no race cars, I can't imagine how slow the 1.2 is. =)

Maybe it's the back that sets me off. I think the front on skodas look way betrer than their backs :)

I upload tons of boring plates on boring cars and against boring backgrounds, day after day, but I do it totally on purpose - not because I want to bore people, but because my personal motivation for uploading is to document the history of car consists as it unfolds. I try to reflect what i see when I go out with my camera, and if there's a ton of black/white/silver/grey Volkswagen up, Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1, then that reality will be reflected in my uploads.

I also upload lots of older and often very poor photos, extracted from the backgrounds of what was originally meant to be bus-, truck or taxi photos - simply because this is the only way of giving an impression of the car models common in Denmark years ago.

Naturally I think we all prefer to upload interesting cars/plates and I often get frustrated when the current day's bach of uploads consist of just boring stuff, but I progress through the photos in a certain order (otherwise it would become totally impossible to keep track of), and if boring photos are next up on "the menu", then so be it, and hopefully the next day will be more interesting.

Of course, this is just my personal way of doing things, and I fully understand if others do things differently. After all, this hobby requires a lot of motivation and time and every photo uploaded by every member is a free gift to enjoy (or not) for the whole community.

My regular plate database just passed the 12.000 records mark a few days ago, and all of the old plates (poor photos) I've entered into it are now beginning to become useful.

Although I didn't take standard car photos back in 2012, 2013 etc., I can now slowly but surely start to recreate an overview of the car models common back then, in other words: what cars you could expect to meet in traffic 10 years ago... and also what became of them, both the individual cars, but also the car models in general. How long did they survive? Which models were commonly exported and so on.

Another thing I like to track is the gradual transition from petrol/diesel engines to hybrid and electric. Sales are really starting to change in Denmark now, but so far the percentage of hybrid and electric cars in actual traffic is still very low. If the current trends for average age of cars spotted remains unchanged, it will be another 2-3 years before the "green" cars really start to be common.

Congratulations with your 12000th regular plate :thumbs up: I notice you're spotting much more ordinary cars in the streets, than me. I prefer the more or less unusual ones, but it's interesting to see the development among types and models, as in your album.
The transition from fossil fuel vehicles to hybrid/electric vehicles is very visible here in Norway.
Normally I spend ca 30 minutes from home to work, driving on all kinds of roads (residential areal, city streets and highway), and everyday I notice at least 10-15 electric cars around me during this period.
