Wow, that's an extensive customization. To be honest, I prefer the original look, but there are still so many of these left, that I'm not really angry with the owner for "ruining a classic"... if he thought it looked "kewl" like this, then fine with me and it's much better that he used his "creative vein" on this, than if he had done the same to a rare classic.

Besides, it seems like it's customised in a way that seemed to be mostly popular in the 80's/90's, so it might have been done back when these cars were still plentiful and cheap.

The design of its rear part is "not my cup of tea" !;) I wonder if could have been imported from Sweden, and maybe was rebuilt over there as an EPA tractor originally. Volvo Duett was popular that way.

On the swedish registry site biluppgifter.se you're supposed to be able to search by either license plate or vin, but every time I've tried entering a vin number, it returns a message that "that license plate could not be found"... which is no surpise, considering that the number is a VIN, not a license plate, but I can't find anywhere to switch to vin search?!

If it worked, it might have been possible to check if thisw car was imported from Sweden.

I often have the same experience! The challenge with Swedish plates is that they after a while is given to another car, if the original car is deregistered for some reason. This Duett came to Norway nearly 20 years ago, and perhaps with a lot of luck it could be possible to find it's original registration through the authorities.
If it came from Sweden.. It's just a wild guess.
Maybe it came from Denmark.. :D
