I feel like I've seen this deep down in my childhood memory, but I'm not sure :)

Could be :) Leiv Sand Transport, Levanger owned it from 8 July 1998 till 14 January 2002, when Element og Spesialtransport, Hokksund took over. From 20 August 2014 it was on the hands of Bjørn Romsås, Tretten. Then from 20 June 2016 it was owned by Bil og Maskin AS, Hof. The last owner Herleik Garaas in Fiskum bought it on 5 July 2018.

Wow! This is surely not something you see every day! I think I spot 1-2 "conventional trucks" (aka bonnet-trucks, aka non-COE) per year, and they're almost always Scanias.

These trucks tend to get traded cross-borders all across Europe, very often to/from Belgium and the Netherlands.

Yes, they are pretty rare. As far as I can see there is 9 Volvo VN trucks on Norwegian plates.
