There are still lots of T4 Transporters and especially MK5 Hiaces running on Finnish roads :) Ofc many of them have been eaten by rust, but engine-wise they are still going strong :D

If only rust maintenance was a bigger priority for most people they would live forever :)

Yeah. Sadly many owners of new cars don't really care about rust protection, since they are going to change their cars into newer ones after like 1-3 years.

Yeah. My moms 2021 SX4 might not be the prettiest car might not be the prettiest car, but I make sure to wash it when I can, especially in the winter under the car. I just don't want it to get rusty. I want it to survive, although on most new cars I don't think the rust is what is gonna kill the car, more likely the engines and its complicated machinery

That's how it should be done :thumbs up: I've been also wondering the same about new cars - how all those complicated three-cylinder turbos and plug-in hybrids will last?

One strange thing I've found from my almost 13.000-entriies database of regular plate cars spotted: There's almost a higher chance of one of the spotted 2007-plates still existing, than 2013-plates for example.

This is of course due to the exact reason mentioned above: modern car buyers tend to get rid of their cars after 1-3 years (many are now leasing, instead of buying)

But a 2007-plate is from a time before this crazy trend started, the cars are also getting old and most are/were owned by people who are not quite young themselves either.

So neither cars nor owners are part of the modern car-switching ratrace, and therefore the plates outlive the newer ones. Quite bizarre.
