Oxblood one of my all time favourites, I had two when I was younger!
Ohhh I love the original DS, a technological marvel way ahead of its time. It's always quite an occasion when I see one of these. I presume you had some great memories when you owned both DS's?
Yeah it was unforgettable! The first one was a DS 19 Pallas SemiAuto from 1965 but not roadworthy. I bought it before I passed my driving licence (1979) and was driving around our (big) property a lot! Then, in 1983 I found a D Super 4speed from 1972 and even drove it from my previous home country Austria to Holland as a joyride. Unfortunately "she" was damaged by a lorry that pushed back (and drove off) on a parking in Vienna so I decided to sell her - I shouldn't have done that but at an age of 23 years you just don't have the money to get everything repaired......

Wonderful, thanks for sharing your memories of your DS' ownership. It's a shame you had to sell your second DS in those circumstances, but totally understandable. I can only see prices of these cars increasing, as they have done for the past couple of decades, and they've become much more sought after around the world.
Yeah true, I remember seeing one for sale back in 1979 but I couldn't afford it. It was a DS 21 Injection in gold metallic and it cost at the time 28.000 Austrian Schillings... That's roughly a mere 2.000 Euros!! The car was in pristine condition, unbelievable really .... I spoke to the owner, he was a sort of "nutty professor" and an absolute ace when it came to old Citroëns. His girlfriend drove a very old 2CV. Golden memories!

It's incredible to think you could have such a car for that price. Nowadays, DS's can be had for at least 10 times that amount, and DS Cabriolets for 150,000 euros. It often seems like the oldtimer Citroens attract a rather 'interesting' clientele, though in a very good way. We have a local Citroen collector who owns a Dyane, Traction Avant Cabriolet, DS, SM and a C15 van, all imported LHD models too. He seems like an incredibly eccentric guy. I once saw him with the Traction Avant having a picnic with his wife at a vantage point in middle of rural North Yorkshire, whilst I was doing my rural deliveries one Sunday afternoon.
Jacko that golden DS 21 IE had a square plate holder like it was previously registered in Italy, strange but I never asked Harry (owner) if this was the case! LOL Nowadays such a car would, as you said correctly, cost above 20.000 Euros or more likely close to 30.000 €!
