However it can be possible to establish the build year using the VIN or other manufacturer codes. But to get the DVLA to remove a Q registration is very difficult and usually requires an official letter from the manufacturer specifically relating to that actual vehicle or sometimes feom a well established owners club. We managed to remove a Q plate from a 1965 Mustang Fastback but it took a lot of evidence to get the correct age related plate assigned to the car, took about 2 months from memory.
