Porsche Carrera GT

1st gen (980), 2003–2006

License plate of the United Kingdom, 1983 year system

This Carrera GT was owned by a family friend of ours, though he became a friend many years after spotting this car. He lived only 1 street away from me (yes, this Carrera GT lived literally a quarter of a mile from my house, but I only ever saw it maybe twice or three times). The car was either originally bought from the UAE, or was exported to the UAE after he owned the car.

Around the time of spotting this car, the owner wasn't too happy with me taking photos of his various cars, including a 993 Carrera RS, 996/997 GT3 RS, Murcielago, Gallardo Superleggera etc., and even made a threatening email to me at one point. However, many years later, it turned out that he had started to work as a tattoo artist, and from doing tattoos for my parents, we finally became friends, and he understood my 'carspotting' hobby. Unfortunately, he passed away in early 2020, though his legacy will remain with many years of showing off his many supercars, and a young and avid car fan from York being inspired by them.

Originally titled in Boca Raton, Florida in 2004.
Imported to the UK in 2010, registered as: RG04 CWR
Received the plate K3 THT from 2011 - 2013
Registered as RG04 CWR again + RAD 38M
Exported back to the US in 2022
Titled in Brownsburg, Indiana; Wexford, Pennsylvania and now in Hialeah, Florida.

Spotted in York, United Kingdom (September 2011)

Thank you. It was a shock to find out about his passing, as it happened all of a sudden. Out of sheer habit, everytime I drive passed his house, I still turn my head quickly in the hope to see one of his supercars on the drive, as you used to see them quite often there. Obviously, that ain't the case anymore, but I still instinctively do it for some reason.
