Plates in uk are usually screwed in but some dealers are lazy and put a couple of sticky pads on the back and they eventually fall off, especially during the summer when it's hot. I suppose Euro plates are always screwed in because they're metal. Theres a part of the road that floods near my (now deceased) grandmothers house, you can always find plates in the waters!

Not all plates are screwed thanks to license plate frames which are pretty common.
Well in my collection I have a case where parts of the license plate just disappeared because of how long it was stuck for, so I covered them with white paper

I dont usually try to fix them, it takes away the character if you know what i mean. I have a Haiti one on my wall and it has two big holes in it. I believe it was where it was screwed in.
