Quite why the owner decided to go for this size of plate for their Range Rover, is beyond me. It doesn't even fit right!

I am guessing they will have had a Discovery (1 to 4) before it will this private plate and he just didn't buy a new one as the Discovery (1 to 4) requires a square plate

That's a fair point actually.
However, a replacement legal plate can be made-up for just £10, no excuse really for not getting a much better-fitting plate for their Range Rover.
