Has this Passat been given a new diplomatic registration? I spotted what appears to be the same Passat with different plates, same alloys, colour and dealer sticker on the rear window. V6 4MOTION Passats are not common at all in the UK!

Would be cool to ask the owner if they could give the used plate, worth loads for collectors.

Don't think you allow to have a diplomatic plate, same story as a trade plate
I would say almost definitely yes. I have seen diplomatic cars change plates before and I wonder if it's a change of owner, perhaps the diplomatic registration is related to the person rather than the car/embassy. Perhaps the previous owner returned home and sold it to someone new, or they just sold it to another embassy employee when they got a new car...?
Pretty sure it's only the trade plates that are an issue, D and X plates are treated like normal plates as far as I'm aware, I've seen them in garages in London along with other plates on the walls...

Do you have an example of a garage that might have any? I might go there
I don't know any of the names sorry. I approached a couple regarding their middle eastern plates but for the most part they were not interested in parting with their wall decorations They just told me that they were plates from cars they had registered on normal UK platesbon behalf of their customers
