Also, dealers sometimes sell or swap cars between themselves to keep stock looking fresh, this means that cars that are sat for a while will often find themselves moving to another dealership in another part of the country to find a new audience.

Cars like these are often bought as a summer toy or owned for a year by drivers who like to try different cars, it's not unusual to find an exotic (or interesting car - the new Toyota Yaris GR is a good example of this) that can have more owners on the log book than it's years in age. In fact, when I bought my Racing Puma it was 6 years old and I was the 6th owner. Of course with me it found a forever home so now it's 22 years old I'm still the 6th owner, but cars like this are often in short term ownership...
