Exactly, people from Hong Kong can get British citizenship through BNO (British National Overseas) visas for relatively cheaply nowadays (£250 for 5 years, I think they can also extend the visas too). I often deliver shopping to students from Hong Kong in York, I know this as I have to ID them whenever they have restricted items in their shopping like tobacco or alcohol, and usually they show me their HK ID cards/passports.
