License plate of the United Kingdom, 2001 year system

Essex (E), United Kingdom
Passenger believes that PM is illegal, we all know our opinions on that, won't say more because it would be "Defamatory", even though I never confirmed exactly which passenger out of up to 4 (due to car) it was.

That guy was mean because everyone can do they want except for dangerous stuff, and its ok to taking photo's of license plates except you report someones license plate to the police when they are innocent

I find this weird that people in countries like UK react like this... like here in switzerland, from someone's license plate you can pay to find out the owner's personal info and there i can sort of understand why some people could abuse that... but in UK the license plate is tied to the car, all anyone could find out is public information about the vehicle history  what am i missing?

Actually, in Slovakia, situation about platespotting is quite simmilar. Best case is when people just stare at you suspiciously, and worst where they start yelling at you and want to call the police, or want to fight with you. I don't take many photos of cars because of similar situation. And you can't find out just from licence plate who is owner too.

I feel sorry for you, take pictures freely, if the owner finds you tell them your rights, if you need run, that's what I would do
