JOtter Did you take a picture of that 4WD Justy? Cars like that are really rare in The Netherlands.
I saw the last one of these on a scrapyard in Germany, together with a Chrysler Saratoga and an Audi 100 Avant, there was a time when you got 2500 € in Germany, if you'd scrap you car if it was over 9 years old....
Helvetics No, but they are still common in the Swiss Alps, I will think of you next time
Thanks! The last time I stayed in Switzerland (And not just drove right through it ) I only saw adverts for 'Switzerland's 4X4' In Switzerland you can buy a lot of 4x4 cars you can't/couldn't buy here, even cars like the Suzuki Liana

The same happened in The Netherlands (Abwrackprämie), but you didn't get that much. (750,- for a normal petrolcar up to 1750,- for a dieselvan.)

There are lists of what was scrapped. The following are the things that are most rare or just sad it has gone: 421 Austin Minis 25 Cadillacs 51 Jaguars 1104 Ladas 5374 Lancias (!!) 6 Mercurys 186 Pontiacs 112 Porsches 1159 Protons (I actually think there are almost none left) 1651 Saabs 1819 Trabants 248 Wartburgs 1679 'others'

I've seen pictures of junkyards with rows of more than 400 VW Golfs MKIII. It was just sad, it's only destruction of wealth, because almost every car was roadworthy (In NL the car still had to have APK (MOT)). Moreover, a lot of rare cars were scrapped immediately without taking any parts off, just because there was a lack of space on a lot of NL junkyards.
CarDriver3838 I found this car on Google Maps today when I went plate hunting for the forum! Seen in London, 2011
Nice Dodge Avenger infront of it. You hardly see them over here as they were poor sellers when Dodge sold cars directly to the UK like the Nitro, Avenger, Caliber and Journey.

Wow!! They're actually kind of rare in the US, too! The Avenger and Caliber are a little more common (not by a lot), and the Nitro is rare! The Journey is very common in the US. Thanks for the info!!
