Lotus Elise

Series 1, 1996–2001

License plate of the United Kingdom, 1983 year system

Lotus Elise GT1 (Type 115). This is the only official road legal Elise GT1 produced by Lotus, all the other chassis were race cars. I was lucky to do a photoshoot of the car some years ago before it went back into storage :)

I'm trying to hunt down the Hennessey Venom GT prototype test car which was developed in the UK, and I believe still somewhere in the UK. Of course beyond the Lotus headlights it looks like a beefed up Exige using a variety of Dodge and custom parts. This Elise GT1 I like because it is all Lotus developed and the engine is out of the Esprit. Last I heard it now lives somewhere in America which is a shame. I had the opportunity to buy the car back when I took these photos but my bank balance was missing a lot of 000's :D

Some has money some has got the taste... I think you love GT1 more than who own the car now... Passion can't be bought and we are lucky to have it

Absolutely! I have not seen any photos of this car in America yet. I think the new owner does not enjoy the car, but keeps it locked away :( If it was with me, then I would love the car and people can see it!
