I prefer to use the bus nowadays for getting around London, simply because it's much cheaper with an Oyster card than the tube, but also because you realise how you could walk places. I wouldn't of dreamed of walking from Kings X to Trafalgar Square when I used the tube because it seems so far, but it's fairly easy to walk! I used to get cabs around everywhere too, which is pointless considering how good the bus network in London is, and how expensive cabs are! :)

I never really considered getting the bus until that moment. I paid something like £12.10 for an all-day Underground ticket (so £24.20 for a 2-day trip...which seems rather steep to be fair), and then found out i can use it on any TfL Transportation inc. Buses. I know the 73-route goes from where the hotel i usually stay at near Euston to Mayfair direct (via. Oxford Street etc.), plus more spotting opportunity on the bus too. I have taken the London Cab before with family, which is interesting but incredibly expensive, we went from Canary Wharf - Waterloo station, which was about £30 (Same distance would cost just under £10 in York or Leeds). Do you go spotting with anyone else or just yourself?

I always went on the tube when I was in London... for me as a German hillbilly this was very interesting :D

Ah fair! I don't often go to London for the sole purpose of spotting. I was there this weekend to be at the anti-austerity demonstration, but I also go down often to see friends. When I'm there I'll leave a couple hours for spotting :)

I guess the cab isn't so bad if it's lots of people, but alone it's too much! Although taxis in Cambridge are not a whole lot cheaper... I once got a cab from Hyde Park Corner to Alexandra Palace - £43 (won't be doing that again!).

When i'm visiting family in Kent, we regularly go to London to watch a different West-end show, so spotting isn't on the agenda then (i still spot when out and about of course :) ), but i also go down to London with a spotting friend, he gets hotel and tickets incredibly cheap, so we spend about 2 days of spotting, and a few other things in-between. I think that i should try looking in other places in London though, not just Knightsbridge/Mayfair/Kensington.

Wow that is expensive. Cabbies in London really seem to rake in the money, seems just as bad as the unlicensed rickshaws which sometimes charge by the minute!

I'd like to spot all around London, and do see exotics when I'm around other areas (I have friends in Camden, Stoke Newington and Stratford, but oddly not south of the river...). I have taken my bike down there and cycled around, but it is hard to spot by bike (safely)!

I'd like to see what Stratford is like, especially the huge shopping centre there. I've only really ever either been on the train through there and once driven through, some interesting architecture from 2012's Olympics there too. Can't say i'd ever try cycling around London myself, seems too hectic for me haha.
