It is very possible that it could also just be some sort of inventory/identification number coming from the UK. Highly unlikely Hong Kong.

Hong Kong using 3 types of font:
1) Old colony font, similar to very old UK font (Can meet on any types plates)
2) New colony font, looks like wide version of modern UK (8 symbols can not fit on the vanity plate, exception - 7 and 8 symbol is "1" or "space")
3) Modern UK (Can meet on any plates, but very uncommon)
Also you can see custom font options for vanity plates
But this plate is not Hong-Kong plate. This is a normal format, so this plate should have 1 or 2 font types

From my knowledge of Hong Kong plates I find the 1st and 2nd font variants very common. I think that it's a bit misleading if the Hong Kong plate generator basically creates a UK variant plate, it's not true to the real font. In fact even the first picture of the third font range doesn't belong in that font range, I at least can spot a few differences between that and the UK font used in the generator.
Basically if someone could revise the Hong Kong plates and add if not replace the current font with the first two fonts from above that would make it more realistic. As it is now making a Hong Kong plate and a UK plate with no euroband has almost no difference at all

I did supply the correct font details as little while ago, but as you can imagine, it's not a simple "swap", especially as I couldn't acquire an actual .ttf file, so expect to see the correct font appearing in due course, with some patience! Usually these changes occur at a gallery update, like adding a new format of plate or something along those lines.
It is after all a free website for us to use, so I decided to use my knowledge and be helpful by finding the correct font details for them to use... It's now up to them to make it happen!

Hong Kong licence plates are not provided by the government but are made to order by garages. Therefore there are lots of unofficial fonts but the British font is not one of them
