It's a loophole in Montana law. Basically, wealthy people from all over the country set up a limited liability company (LLC) in Montana. The owner can then avoid the taxes of buying a vehicle in whatever state they reside in buy having their LLC purchase the vehicle. Furthermore, the vehicle doesn't even need to be in the state of Montana for a Montana LLC to purchase it and register it in Montana. It's legal tax evasion at its finest.
