The other format is clearly going a lot faster, yields twice as many combinations yet all of BM** was issued in the same length of time as BR*. BNCH should be out now according to lookup.

First of all, upvote for the research. I often look numbers up and am so happy to see someone else who shares this with me :)

According to my research through checking on Tennessee county clerk website, the following BNs are valid:

BNB* C G H P Q S T Z
BNC* F H

BNCH highest valid

Checked through BNCZ

Is BS* going to be issued or do you think they will skip to BT*?

I've been using Carfax app for quick lookups, also Findbyplate for more info. For the past several months I've been keeping track of the new blocks coming in, especially for New York and Kansas. This can be done only for states where the new combinations become searchable right away. Highs for other states can take weeks to show up. Though I can point out quite a few numbers reported .cc that never became verifiable at all:
Ohio: KKV,KKW,KME,KMZ, New York: LFF, (LKG,LKR,LLD at the time), Mississippi: SDB (should be SB-) ,TLA (should be TK-), WLA (should be WH-), LIZ (only went to LID), Missouri: ZK2 A4B, Florida: anything past 99E MZZ in this format, Alabama: 1A56WAT, 1A06WAS for example.

I also found out North Carolina skipped most of the VB- series, as well as the RF- series. New York skipped the LM- series.

I don't see any indication that BS* has been omitted by Tennessee nor will be, but I'll let you know if I find any more info.

The best resources for TN lookups is https://secure.tncountyclerk.com//index.php if your aren’t worried about vehicle specifics only number validity since they enter them is when they are issued. After entering a number, if it says ‘Registration must be within 90 days of expiration,’ this indicates the plate is valid. Other states don’t appear to have such a site. Cardax seems to be the best general lookup for finding what vehicle the plate is actually registered to and it is also fairly reliable for determing validity. Plates tend to appear here after about 1 or 2 days of being issued. Findbyplate takes about 2 weeks to appear. For example, the BRZ seen above is valid,
on carfax but not findbyplate.

Hope this helps, thank you for your detailed reply. I am so happy someone else is also into this like me :)

Thanks, for Tennessee it's fun to figure out what specialties are issuing. Based on the Wikipedia page it seems some are not known or maxed out and the next format is not known. Massachusetts RMV lookup you can see the exact date every plate was registered and whether it's still in use. It would be cool if more states made that information available.

Have you seen any Millennial Debt Foundation plates starting with I/A, I have not been able to verify any. Or were the ones reported likely a mistake for A/I? I have seen A/J though.

Yes, I've seen AI but not IA.

AI and AJ are similar designs but technically slightly different plates. One uses the standard falt font used on all other specialty plate, but the other (AJ) uses the font used on the blue plates, but I don't remember which is Millennial Debt Foundation

Hope this helps and I'll be on the lookout for IA as well as see if I can get a picture and post in here of the next AI I come across :)

you're right, NC only did VBC, also the entire JK/KL series was entirely staggered and JLY-JLZ are still being issued, also nothing has gone higher than KLJ which is odd

A/J is the Equity Alliance plate, just figured that out thanks to your input. :) I was confused by the reports on licenseplates.cc, glad to get that cleared up.
