I was curious so I asked AI why there is so many US plates in Serbia. The answer was: there are many cars with American license plates in Belgrade because Serbian expats bring their vehicles from the U.S., it helps them avoid high import taxes, such cars are seen as prestigious and unique, and enforcement of foreign plate regulations is often weak, allowing people to drive them for years.
Any thoughts?

Among the top European countries whose citizens have moved to the United States in the past two decades, Serbia ranks roughly between 11th and 15th—behind Poland (5th) and Romania (9th), where, it seems, there isn’t such a noticeable influx of American license plates on the roads

Our people like to show their US plates haha, and also it’s cheaper for them to bring a car and have it stored somewhere rather then renting a new car everytime they’re here. I have a couple of friends with US plates and that’s literally the main reason they do it.
