Should you feel the need to get a dog, my strongest piece of advice is to thoroughly research the inherent traits and statistics of any dog breed you’re considering, rather than just the individual dog’s demeanor.

It’s a troubling fact that certain breeds are responsible for a massively disproportionate amount of severe harm. Statistically, pit bull-type breeds are the most dangerous, causing over 66% of human fatalities by dogs.

Therefore, my firm advice is to avoid pit bulls, bullies, or staffies entirely. I hope that one day, we can see widespread breed-specific legislation to restrict these dogs, and finally bring an end to the unnecessary suffering and casualties they cause.

Choose a breed known for stability and a safe history. It’s the best way to ensure the well-being of your family, your community, and your other pets.
