Well I have made my trip. There wasn't a parade per se, or armored vehicles, or even Chargers, but there were many police trucks. I'd still consider it a success.

Congrats! At least you kinda make it up, since the parade in Hanoi wasn't announced, I only knew about it when the media reports the following day after the event.
I have never heard or seen a military Audi before, there could be 2 scenario for this car: 1. It's a car belongs to the head of a special military department. 2. It might uses a fake license plate to looks formidable
Might be the latter one really. Military vehicles have a second numeric code on the vehicle itself identifying the division they belong to (check it for yourself).

I have also realize that. But it could be faked too, a G-Class in Cần Thơ wearing a (technically) fake military plate have also had a code says "44" on it. I have also noticed a "36" or "76" code on the Audi previously mentioned but it has no military register sticker (tem đăng kiểm)
There're more European vehicles in the millitary nowadays than you might think, especially when it comes to weapons and equipments that are directly imported from foreign countries like this volkswagen van belongs to "Cục Điều Tra Hình Sự" which isn't even available to purchase in Vietnam

Probably the main reason I think they are rare because they don't show up on the road as oftens as Japanese and Russian military vehicles. I mean the most special vehicles in the military only appearing in special parades or events like a presidential visit to Vietnam.
