This legendary Messerschmitt Kabinenroller is actually not a Messerschmitt...
Following WWII, plane manufacturer Willy Messerschmitt was quarantined from building airplanes, so he turned his attention to microcars, hugely popular at the time. The KR 200 soon became a major success, but when Messerchmitt's airplane ban expired and he was offered new military plane contracts, one condition was, that the company should concentrate solely on airplanes, so Messerchmitt was forced to establish a new comany FMR (short for Fahrzeug- und Maschinenbau Regensburg = vehicle- and machineryfactory Regensburg), and the KR 200 changed name to FMR KR 200, starting in january 1957.
These microcars were registered as motorcycles making them both cheaper and requiring only a bike license to drive (two of the reasons they were so popular), so they don't have any front plates. A front view (with the FMR logo) will be added in the comments section.
