Hundested = Dogplace
Aarhus = Yearhouse
Middelfart = MediumSpeed
Ølstykke = BeerPiece
Tønder = Barrels
Ølgod = BeerGood
Vanløse = Waterless

But seriously, I've never heard of anybody going on vacation in a country and not even knowing the names of the cities visited because they are "strange"

Without names, how do you talk about places/attractions visited? "that place with the tall buildings", "the place with a lot of water", "the flat area near the water and the bridge"

On the photo of DE52569 a sign with the street name can be seen on the wall in the background, and it's from central Copenhagen, almost as central as it gets, and it seems that some/many of the others are from the same area.

My favourite in Denmark is Sengeløse = Bedless Lot's of fun can be had with translating place names without context! Some of the best ones from Norway.
Hammerfest = Hammer party
Hønefoss = Chicken falls
Straumgjerde = Electric Fence
Bodø = Livedie
Lampeland = Lamp Land

Hehe, Lampeland sounds like a big store. Also I guess they have some violent parties in Hammerfest.
